New video: Princetown branch railway hike (Dartmoor June 2021)

Let’s be honest here. This video wasn’t the one I planned to publish today. I planned to do a Girlguiding: what it’s actually like to be a leader in the event that the first Georgia video wasn’t ready. But although I filmed the Girlguiding video twice, I don’t like either, and the Georgia video/s won’t be ready for just a little while longer. I haven’t even decided yet whether it’ll be daily vlogs or one long video or two parts. So instead you get the Dartmoor hike I filmed in 2021. Yes, that’s how long I’ve been trying to make proper videos.

On the one hand, I’m so happy to finally see this video done. It’s been sitting on a hard drive for the best part of three years at this point. On the other hand, it’s not the video I hoped it would be – all the bits where I talk to the camera, and there are a reasonable number of them, had to be cut out because even I couldn’t make out what I was saying over the wind noise. I also neglected to mention any of the details of the hike – or at least, in the bits you can hear, that I hiked from one car park to another and then back via a slightly different route, making less a circle and more a lemon. Nor do I mention that I cross about four tors on this, or the total length.

If you want the full details, the blog post is here, and it has links to the route card and the Wikiloc GPS trail (those are also linked in the video). But if you want to see a greener bit of Dartmoor than you usually see, and some adorable foals, you can watch the video. And apparently I’m at the point now where I ask “would you please like and subscribe?”. There’s some fun stuff coming – Georgia, my trip to Helsinki last year, my no-cruise cruise this coming April, tree camping on a tiny island and if you subscribe, you won’t miss any of it.
