It’s Tuesday and it’s the first new video of 2024! Today’s video is the second part of my new ten-part series called “Is this the best geothermal pool in Iceland?” and we’re off to Myvatn Nature Baths! YouTube is really confusing me – last week’s Blue Lagoon video is, after about 56 hours, my fourth most-watched video (by the time this one is published, I’m expecting it to be in third place). I was nervous and dubious about it but it seems popular, by my tiny channel’s standards. I was very uncertain about Iceland in February too, because I didn’t film nearly enough while I was there, but that’s the one currently in third place. On the other hand, its summer equivalent, the experimental one from a couple of weeks ago, has been an absolute flop. Ah well. I gather even the pros, the YouTubers and vloggers who’ve been at this ten-plus years don’t really know what’s going to be well-received.
So, on with the video! If you haven’t watched the Blue Lagoon one, I’m going through Iceland’s ten tourist-oriented geothermal pools, hot springs, spas, lagoons etc, awarding them points for various things and comparing the points. Yes, I realised as I was going along that some of the places are better than the sum of their points and some of them are less than the sum of their points – in fact, I recorded the entire series, scrapped it and re-recorded it, including my thoughts on whether the points total felt fair.
And now, go watch the video!
