Photoset: the highs and lows of camping

I have a somewhat ambivalent relationship with camping – when it’s good, it’s great but when it’s bad it’s awful. In two and a half weeks, I will be camping with eight assorted Rangers and Guides. Guide camp in February. So this post is a series of photos highlighting one of my good camping trips and one of my bad ones.

Half the campsite packed up and left by “dawn”.

It rained on this Ranger camp.

…and then the field next door flooded and this happened. We sent the girls home.

My tent was safe on the back field and the Guide tents were up on the hill so they were safe.

Less than an hour after the picture of me in the puddle (that was by the trees in the middle of this photo)

Freshly-dyed hair dripping all over my uniform after splashing around the site trying to get all the girls to safety for an hour.

I came back on Sunday morning to see what I could salvage. The water was over the top of my wellies.

And by now the mess tent was flooded too. Worst Guide camp ever.
